My old tried and trued Thrustmaster Firestorm 2 is loosing its center point. Will start walking when going full forward, or walking when in neutral. Pisses me off to no end in time trials or dieing because it walked when I was trying to run.

Going to try one last take apart and clean, but I think it might be on its last legs.

I really enjoyed this controller and thinking of sticking with Thrustmaster, but before I do.. any suggestions?

This is for PC. But can't I use Xbox360 and PS3 based controllers as well? Confused on that point.

I also like ones with that rubberized surface, and the two additional buttons on the bottom (360 like?). So not counting the analog controls button down, 10 buttons. Don't really need/want wireless nor rumblepad. Optical would be nice per possibly this time not loosing its center point. Oh and CURVED analog thumb surfaces. Not flat. I cant see how anyone likes flat analogs.

Suggestions?

ps3 will be a pain to setup, as far as I know it requires additional drivers and such.
360 wired will work straight on. 360 Wireless requires a special receiver, I jave it and it works very well too.

360 uses the USB cord only for charging, not for actual input data. Unsure about ps3 for that.

360 pad FTW, wired is just plug and play, wireless needs the adapter.

PS3/Wii pads work too but are a pain to set up.

Also, with an xbox360 controller all 'games for windows' (and most other games as well) work immediately with the controller, without the need to reset your keys!

I think the 360 pad is perfect. Feels the most comfortable out of all the pads in this and previous console generations.

Which controller has flat analogues? All the ones I can remember are curved :o But most of them are convex, I prefer concave ones like the xbox 360 one.

I like the PS3 controller, but no drivers for 64bit, so I got the 360 with wireless adapter ($15). 360 directional pad sucks. Really bad. You can get a PS2 wired and an adapter from Elecom for $10. 32 and 64 bit.

I have the 360 pad for PC with the hard wire and wireless reciever and I think either way the controller simply rocks. 360 ftw!

Might be a bit redundant, but I'm throwing in another vote for the wired 360 pad. It's great, and works instantly with many games that were made for the 360 and PC. If you plug it in and boot up, say, Fuel or Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, it'll work instantly with the exact same controls as the console version. It's quite lovely.

Only problem I have with it is that, outside of games that use it specifically, it seems the analog triggers both control the Z axis but in different directions. So if you're playing something else and you want to map one button to L and another to R, that might cause problems... But maybe that's a drivers thing, or just a problem with certain programs, I don't know. And in that case you've still got the bumpers to work with.

There are 64bit drivers.... My brother uses the PS3 controller on his Windows 7 64bit. I will ask him about it tomorrow.

But from what I remember it was simple to set up. Just run the exe for the drivers. Then windows sees it as a standard controller. You can also use six-axis.

That is true but I downloaded a simple program to map the analog controls to whatever preset you want for any game. Check it out - http://xpadder.com/

And a D-Pad that works! ;) I still have nightmares about playing Street Fighter on the 360 :P Personally I have never had my fingers 'slip off the triggers'. Ever.

I have the 360 pad for my PC, and it's sweet! Really can't play games like Arkham Asylum without it! It's wireless too, with that receiver. Was pretty cheap actually, around the same price as a regular wireless without the receiver.

Ok Im going to rant majorly.

    1. Why did Unreal 3 allow ONLY xbox controllers? Even on PC.
    2. Why did Microsoft only allow this? They realize thats just going to turn of developers from investing into PC peripherals if they have to get a Xbox license to make a controller compatible?

Its total bullshit. I get a new controller for Batman.

    This killer Thurstmaster F430

    470870.jpg

Much better than any crappy overpriced xbox controller. And I cant use it. Because the damn game is hardwired for xbox controllers only.

So this nice new controller is fucking worthless and I cant return it easily/cheaply since I got it online.

Perhaps one of the 360 controllers with the transforming d-pad and a wireless receiver? probably not the cheapest solution.

    These guys helped me out.

Still having to use an emulator is BS. This controller is so nice though.
