Hey guys, not sure if this counts, but I'm now working at Liquid Development on some next-gen titles. It's not a studio job, but it's industry work and my first gig since starting learning 3d a year ago!
i worked in house at liquid the first year they were in portland.. i totaly miss portland.. but anyways... good luck
Wait that was their first year there? I remember stopping by years ago to say hi to you, looked like they had been there for a while as cramped as it was.
This really motivates me to work even harder. It's been only 10 months since I picked up 3d-modelling myself; I've been worried that it might be too early too look for a gig. Glad you proved me wrong
I've always wondered about liquid development, is it the kind of place you can call a real job or is it a lot like freelance, where you wonder week to week how much money you'll make?
Congrats, you working in house or contract? Part of the reason i moved to portland was so I could apply to work inhouse at liquid once i got my portfolio up to snuff
All freelance, consider it as a job, as you will need to get the most assets you can to get paid well. I like the guys there, I had a very good time on my freelance days.
Liquid is a great place to start your career, I worked with them for 2 years and half, I've got more then 10 titles to my belt. So, good luck there and have fun. My congrats.

Dude, your thread is amazing for only having ten months experience so STFU lol!
CJE, congratz on the new job. You are a great artist, especially with only having 1 years worth of work. Its good to see people getting work with all the layoffs happening!
Congratz! I also started with them years ago. Only tid bit of advice.... Stay on them about giving you assets and titles. They will toss you to the side if you dont stay on there balls about it.
OrganizedChaos... I would consider it a real job. It is freelance but you work closely with the Art Managers and I'm already overloaded with work
man_o_mule... I'm working remotely. It's great for me right now. Gives me a chance to gain some experience in a development environment. I'm looking to apply for a studio job end of the year, possibly have a job at Bioware Edmonton through some connections.

Grats!
Liquid's a great place to get work, lots of varied projects to learn stuff on and keep things from getting boring.
