So a bunch of stuff i was making throughout the year that either got pushed aside for work work, or just took my dear sweet time working one. I actually really enjoyed taking my dear sweet time. Not really giving two shits about whether or not i was going at industry speed. All that matter was that i made something for my own eyes. Egotistically speaking of course. har.
I don't have the polycounts at hand for the turtles and hockey, but i'll drop some statistics asap.
That's some awesome work! I agree that the only thing that's hurting the turtle piece is the grass. If you are gonna leave it I'd make it a bit more desaturated at least. But that's a minor gripe, fantastic stuff.
i saw those turtles on cgtalk, didn't know it was you, but my first thought was this: Your composition of that image is bad. It could be so much more cool. Go find some videos of ninja turtles cartoons or the comics or something and copy one of their layouts, because yours is just killing your cool work.
To whoever wanted the turtles to have different headband colors, the style makes me think of the ORIGINAL TMNT, the comic by Eastman and Laird. Their headbands and belts were all red in that one.
Which, of course, means you captured the look of the originals durn near EXACTLY, Dur23!
I realize the grass is a fair bit over saturated. I didn't fix it, i may do that. I'm just a touch on the lazy side with regards to playing with this more.
I did however crop the image as per adam's suggestion.
Nice, although I like the hockey player shot with the camera rolled, more than the straight on shot you have now. I would still have the image cropped with way you have it now though.
As for the turtles sharing the same bandanna color, in the original comics they all wore red bandannas, and the cartoons changed them to have individual colors so they would be more easily identifiable to kids.
(I used to have a comic long long ago, but it's lost through time and childhood mistreatment...otherwise I'd scan a page to show)
progg: There is something wrong with his face, but right now i'm not to worried, because once i slap 500'000 hair follicles on him it won't look quite like this.
shotty: I had a blast doing it. These arts i've been doing lately have been entirely therapeutic. So i won't discuss how long i spent on that goblin.
shep: Ya those hands. Pain in the butt because every-time i went higher in the specular department i broke with the rest of the arm. Maybe i should revisit anyway.
woogity: Thanks! I've always kind of sucked at backgrounds so i went to town on that one, and it payed off for the most part.
cman2k: jameson and pbr? Good night.
PeterK: Thanks! It was a long time.
GrimmW: That was my whole intent. I felt that the old silly looking ones that used to cut throats didn't get enough respect.
arsh: love!
marlfox8: Some purists will tell you to read the originals cause they were all super rad violent.
vladino: Now that i look at it a little later, it does look like rather wet out there. :0
I really like the ninja turtles scene. The image is way too sharp though, did you post sharpen it in photoshop? The aliasing on the edges of everything looks very harsh.
great work man, marked improvement in this thread for sure. your latest work is looking extremely nice, very expressive. the new render is light years better than the previous btw:thumbup:
Hey thanks for posting on my portfolio thread. Your work is very impressive and I know there is a lot of credibility behind your critique because of your work.

Cool shit man, happy to see new stuff from yoooouu
The hockey one was pretty legit as well. Like the black eye.
Great Work!
Downarmy: The skate shape is baked from high poly and the threading on the toe is done with texture overlay in post.
GAV! LOVE!
Kincade: I was a little embarrassed to put that in though.
PFFF I dig it man!
Ill be in mtl soon, prepare to have ur face Kick in son!
Finished this a while back too:
*EDIT*... NVM I saw at the bottom of the image in tiny print that MoP modeled it :P
:P Good work on the stuff though. Bear looks a little odd though. Maybe its just because he is hairless though
edit- actually its swimming in awsome sauce it is
hands looks a bit to lacking in contrast though, a bit too waxy like
Been a long time man. Glad to see some new arts from you, cool work.
