You know how by default when you install, max has some retardedly low mipmap lookup for all textures?
(in customise>preferences>viewport>configure driver, match bitmap size as close as possible, and the selections for 256,512,1024 etc)
I like, have to turn that up to highest every single time I start max, rather than just the once like every other install of the program I've ever had.
-Is this a common problem
-Is there a way I can force it to cease its bullshit

You need to close the program, right click on the shortcut to max and click on 'Run as administrator'. Then once in the program change your driver config to what you want and restart. After you restart it should have saved.

It's a bullshit Win Vista AND Win 7 problem. You can permanently make it so every time you run max from that shortcut it's runs as admin, and here is how:

    >Right click the shortcut to max
    >click on properties
    >under the 'shortcut' tab, click on advanced at the bottom
    >Make sure run as admin is checked.

Now every time you run from that shortcut you are running as admin.

    Hope this helps. :)
