creating this thread here since it has nothing to do with 3D directly:

ive got an acer aspire one that i got on the cheap, want to turn it into a hackintosh. following a couple of online guides to go about doing this, but ran into a snag.

www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=154853

ive gotten as far as restoring the os files to the flash drive, and now i need to make the flash drive bootable. problem is, OSX86 tools wont run on my version of OSX, 10.4.11.

im assuming there is a work around, but some quick googling got me nothing. i should mention im new to apple, so i prob dont have the correct search terms to get what im looking for.

If you have access to a real mac (or another hackintosh already running osx) it is fairly easy to make a bootable flash drive.. But I think a lot of the current software requires leopard (10.5)
Also, why are you using 10.4? Leopard (and snow leopard depending on the hardware) are fairly easy to get up and running.

I second the suggestion to work with 10.5 or 10.6. Too many Mac features require those levels as a minimum.

For netbooks, I recommend checking out this site: http://osx.mechdrew.com/ I have a Dell Mini with OSx, that a friend of mine built before trading it to me, and he used that site's easy installer tools.

Also, make sure, if you use 10.6, to NOT update to 10.6.2. Apple screwed with the Atom processor support, and those who have gotten to work, have mixed results.

sorry, i should have mentioned that im using my fiance's legit powerbook, which is currently running 10.4.11. maybe its time to upgrade her, but i was looking for a workaround without having to mess with her lappy.

notman - site looks interesting, ill take a look at it later tonight after work. thanks sir.
