This project is based off of the concept which can be seen here. My girlfriend found the image and gave me 2 weeks to model, texture everything. to sort of test my abilities..
I think the proportions of the girl's body needs some tweaking, (and also she looks like a boy), but it's coming along nice. Looking forward to the finished result!
I doubt I will finish in 2 weeks but for the sake of making my gf horny i will try.
Ha. Truer words sir.
Somewhat curious on the interior mouth. While modeling most items in zbrush for the bake seems legit, I imagine your going to project these onto a base silhouette as opposed to modeling low polys for all objects? Awesome scene so far though. Please throw this into unreal or marmoset or something for the final.
Some more images of how i am doing the inside of the mouth.
unfortunately the concept image is hard to go by at this stage so i have to make a few things up as i go...
i dont want it to be 100% like the concept anyway.
this is looking great! personally I would add more strands and layers into the hair to give a bit more depth. I think if you keep it as one shell it tends to look like lego hair
Before you go about redoing the textures, I'd make the details more crisp on the sculpt. It seems to me like you're going to lose out on the details produced from the high poly as is, and will have to make up for that with a more pronounced diffuse.
Miyazaki is quite inspiring though, and you're throwing in an interesting twist.
If you can't see these let me know i hosted them on my dropbox
Probably shouldn't show this yet but heres my scene setup. I think the thing is taking the longest is laying out the UVS i don't know if i should use 4 maps or 1
i was gonna seperate my maps for the girl but not sure.
one thing that adds to the awkwardness of the original image that isn't in your scene yet is the girls smile... like she's trying to pretend that he isn't standing right beside her.. it's small but I think it's a big detail.

just strangling him and sucking the juices
Got some items into zbrush though..
I haven't had much time to work on this cause of other work.. SUCKS
but to let you all know I'm gonna still complete it LOL
Bad update but i got it more defined in Zbrush sort of.
Next update in a week or 2 I will add all the props inside his mouth and Zbrush it all up..
export normals and make some textures.
Hey, I gotta ask my gf the same, see what she comes up with... xD
LOL, kidding.
I'm going to redo the monster textures.. cause I hate them.. right now.
but i'm taking a break from the monster going to finish the girl model..
I'll probably render this in a toon style in the final.
How I did the hair.. is this fine? i'm a newbie at hair really. not much practice.

I dont feel like doing hair in strands a big chunk of hair is fine.
texturing will be when i get all the models finished probably the last stage
Still wip probably get this model kinda finalized in a few days. UV map it and shit.
Not sure if you've seen this, but someone made Mei back a while back:

(I know she's not in your image, but there's elements that really capture Miyazaki's style).
Before you head to making the cute totoro, I'd LOVE to see a decrepidly disturbing Catbus remake.
kinda been busy studying for my drivers test and shit. updates will come though.
