I used to use my Maya 8.5 almost all the time And it would move, rotate, and zoom in zoom out the camera very smoothly, until I changed into Maya 2009 I suddenly have 1 FPS even sometimes below 1 FPS, I updated my drivers, and I tried to change settings to Highest performance instead of quality in the NVIDIA control Panel, but there is no change on the fps.
My Computer Stats is:
Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo CPU E6850 @ 3.00 GHZ 3.00 GHZ
Memory Ram 2 GB
32 bit Windows Vista
NVidia 9600 GSO 768 MB
and Nvidia 8600 GT 256 MB
but they are not connected to each other, one is for the second monitor and one is for the wide screen monitor(main)
I tried to use 3ds max 2010 it is working fine with good fps, but when it's Maya 2009 it is heavily lagging. I hope someone can help me on this and maybe tell me the settings I should use to reduce the lag.
Thanks

On my system, I have to disable themes. rClick your shortcut, and 'disable desktop composition', under the compatibility tab IIRC.
