First of, this is my first cloth in Mudbox and i need all the feedback i can get. This is how it looks..
I'll be working on this the whole day, so hopefully their will be some progress later today. But i need some input on stuff that's crazy and some guidelines to fix it (:
I can ad that this dude is my first character and our assignment was to take something we liked and make it better...
One key thing I'm noticing is really separating that edge for the hood flap. Also! If you check one of the last pages of the What are you working on 2010 thread, someone kindly posted a few videos on his cloth process. Just some timelapses, but should get you started.
I'll throw up an update when some more progress is done. Think i've manage to create some nice creases around the arm. Mudbox just stared to f*ck with me giving me all kinda strange eroors in the mesh that i need to go back and correct so changing to Zbrush maybe an idea, couse i do have the possibility to work with it.. Can you please link to info about thouse cloth brushes? (:
Disanski, I have those brushes, I just didn't know if he had Zbrush to use them with :P
Looking better, it still looks a little blurry. I think you're working in too high of a subdivision for the detail you are doing. Run the contrast brush over the creased areas, give it a little more push...
Thanks diskanski and DarthNater (right!? ) for the tut. I'm gonna take a look at it. the thing is that i'm used to Mudbox and have possibility to work with Zbrush. I'll see what i'll do..
The poly cunt id fairly low, don't have the numbers right here but i'm allways trying to get as much as possible info into every subD. Why i'm so settle is basically couse i don't wanna over do it.. I need a model that works in all poses.. I'll try t go over everything atleast one time before next update. That is tomorrow, hopefully (:
This is yesterdays work and todays pokeing, the ribs on the sleeve for example.. Please give some input on this! And i should say the right arm are still kinda forgotten. Do you know if their's a way to clone the left arm to the right side, with Mudbox or zbrush (got 3.5r2 for the moment)?
In zbrush under deformation there is a tab -not sure for the name i dont have it in front of me- i think it is smart resym or something - you can mask off half of the model (the one that you would like to mirror over) and hit that button and that will copy it over.
If it was me I would do that and then make some changes to the folds it will look more natural if they are not exactly symmetrical.
hope that helps
no too bad. i just think you could define the folds a bit more
looks a little made up in places.
Put on a similar top and look in the mirror, take some pics. it
Yeah, i tried to just go over each fold and see if it could happen irl. I don't really have an update worth showing. Just sat and tweaked the zipper and stuff the whole day. Copied over the arm ribbing to the other arm and started with some new folds.. Basically the folds on the arm left to do, and then of course shoes and hands.
Started with the hands yesterday, this is what i got. Never really done hands, or as i understand what it's called in the business "Hand job"? Isn't right? Sooo, I'll comeback soon with a real update.
hey awesome the exact same dude played zombie on the last resident evil :P
dunno, to me its just the 3d.sk freesample, so maybe try to combine it a bit with different refs, instead of copying this one again
Hehe, you got a good eye ^^ I have some ideas give him a black(er?) eye and a broken nose. But i guess it will still show "who" it is so to speak. But thanks for pointing that out to me man, i'll change him up a bit (:
Does any one know how to change the title of a topic btw?
I heard from a very good source that if your starting pose is a T like you currently have later on in the pipeline it will create problems in the shoulders and elbows. I've been modeling in relaxed states since and I do see people run in to envelope problems when their initial stance is a rigid T. I just wanted to put this point across for your consideration. Also you need to keep only the polys that are going to show, the full body mesh underneath isn't really neccesary, much more so when doing the sculpt treatment.
Yeah, i've thought about start working in a more relaxed pose to. The ref images is in t-pose and the first basemesh i did was based on these images. If you'd read my first post i wrote that our assignment was to take a old piece we did and update it so to say.
Ofc i know that the highpoly won't show in my lowpoly piece, but it's still their to check so it fits with the clothes.
Sooooo, stared to mess him up a bit. I'm a little unsure about the bullet hole in the cheek, I'll see how it looks with some texture on it. Any thoughts about the hair?

A few posts down.
You are right about the hood, right now it looks like something that's sewed together with the rest of the shirt..
Thx for the input (:
Anyway, you're cloth is looking pretty decent right now. I think you need to add some smaller creases, especially in the armpit and wrist areas.

the brushes you were asking for

Thank you so much for all the inputs!

Anyone have any feedback on the hood and the new folds on the arm?
While waiting for feedback here and outoff a little boredom i stared sculpting the jeans.. 30 min in and this is what i got..

really helps to have ref in front of you

Really helpful in understanding weight, tension, and structure of draped materials.

And oh, the hand is done'ish..
