Been working on a new character for a mod, probably going to end up using the UDK kit. But anyway here's a wip, still getting some forms right tweaking stuff before i get into the nitty gritty. Any crits on the form before i get cracking?
A few things:
- The belts seem to be doing nothing to the cloth, they actually look like they're conforming to it rather than holding it in place.
- The lips/mouth area needs work. Looks like he's a tough guy about to cry, quivering lip. The features look a little low on his face.
- Knee pads look kind of small and sculpted on as their thickness seems kind of inconsistent.
- Boots look pretty cool.
Bit of an update, trying to lock down how i want the folds to work on the jacket but can't really get it how i want, finding ref for one like that is tough
Topogun, yer i'm kinda giving it everything since if i don't land a job after this i'ma prob have to get a random full time warehouse gig or something and do this part time, i don't want that
Sinister: Yer I'll throw in some alphas for eye lashes, some bits of hair etc and other stuff if i remember, will have to make a list.
Sirdelita: cheers, first time using topogun so i might have gone a bit overboard but i really wanted to keep the volume of some of the folds and curves
Alright got some time today to rough out some colours, still can't decide what i want to do with the vest.. light / dark / camo. But anyway here's an update.
Alright have had a few dramas, needless to say started fresh. Changed the colour scheme to a more earthy toned colours. Just diffuse / normals no spec yet.
In my utterly biased, totally skewed, and absolutely self-serving opinion, I think this looks awesome. I can easily imagine a squad of these guys going toe-to-toe with some Craus.
The face looks a bit strange in the close up pic, but the final ones look great, so doesn't matter then. I'm glad you took it all the way and textured it. Looks great!

Also check the mesh for little bumps.. you can soften some areas to avoid little brush irregularities like can be seen on the hair.
Anyone know any good retopo programs? I've heard good things about Topogun is it worth it?
