This is the first time I've tried to extract a normal map, and while the hipoly and lowpoly meshes look okay to me, the result's got some ugly seams all over it:
Any idea how to fix this? I'd just do it in Photoshop, but it's pretty nasty in places:
have you played with the baking options? There was a nice normal baking tutorial...if I find it, i will post it but I think that you must play with the baking settings such like search distance/resolution etc.
Another option would be to use a separate program entirely, such as XNormal or inside Maya, XSI, whatever. I, as well as some others around here, would suggest XNormal because it's free, easy to use, and produces great results.
