Help! 3ds Max 2009 Flickering Glitch

Hi guys,
I'm new to this forum and I am an aspiring game designer. I'm glad to have become a member of this site and I hope I will be able to learn more about 3d modeling along the way.

My problem though is that the very first thing that I want to model on my own wont work because when I set up the blueprints(planes) and I try to navigate through the viewports, they begin to flicker black but only on the polygons (meshes, models, etc).
Does anybody know how to fix this issue? I installed all the latest updates of 3ds Max 2009 and hot fixes, but nothing so far. I need to get this done by Monday so any help will be appreciated.
Thank you very much,
Makao Cloud

    Post screenshots of the issue.

The only thing off the top of my head that sounds similar is that you might need to adjust the scale of all the objects in your scene smaller, but if that is not possible, Right Click on the viewport name in the upper left hand corner of the viewport, and click on Viewport Clipping.

This will cause a small red slider bar to appear on your viewport with a triangle at the top and a triangle at the bottom. With your scene shown on screen, grab the bottom triangle and slide it up and down and see if the polygon popping still occurs.

But again, hard to say without seeing the scene / issue.

Could be your planes are very thin boxes and the back side of the box is z fighting with front?
