You are wasting A LOT of space on the UV layout. Bring them tighter together.
Also, you might want to consider a different beauty render for him. The way the shadows are hitting him makes it hard to see a lot of detail, and the shadows on his arm throws me off.
your overall silhouette of the character is boring, lots of straight lines and not enough swooping lines. youre wasting tons of UV space, a lot of the clusters could be combined together.
and you have errors in your normal bake. you know what i mean, those bright yellowish and red spots are errors. light your character nicely so we can see some more.
you put WAY too much polys on the feet! the FEET!
work on your spec too, i tend to do the spec and diffuse at the same time.
i think you might need to go back to the drawing board for the design with this one.
im confused why its so many tris when it seemingly looks so simple to model, why not cut down on some edge loops on the boot or possible the duffel bag on his back. what about the edge loops on the stock of the grenade launcher, take out what doesn't make the silhouette better. im having trouble identifying this guy...is it a creature or is it a guy wearing a mask...how can he see out of the thing? lol. why not keep the bottles in the duffel bag?
- on the plus, he is unique but you can push him alot farther.
i saw the requirements on 3dtotal you have 2048 maps to play with...go nuts man lol.
This is all SUPER informative to hear.Half of the things said I had no clue of.Im so glad you guys hit me with this knowledge and your opinions without sugar coating anything.I feel as though next time around I will not make these mistakes thanks to you guys.I will definitely start posting progress on projects in here more often.
really, were not trying to be assholes but were honest and not bullshitting you when it comes to this stuff. we ar passionate about this and want to see ppl head in the right direction as we want to be in as well. keep crackin at it, saturate yourself with art and everything that involves the arts, and keep going. dont stop. the worst thing you can do is to do nothing.
peace

Other than that, I think it looks pretty good!
