Translating my Monday Movies- Worth it?

Hey Everyone,

As you probably know, I produce weekly 3dsMax Video Tutorials called my Monday Movie Series. Recently, I realized that people from all over the world watch these videos, and oftentimes they may not speak perfect English.

Long story short, I found out I can get my videos transcribed and roughly translated but it's a little expensive (~3 beers). I don't mind doing it, but I want to make sure it'll be useful.

Do you think this'll help people at all? Or is it just a waste since anyone that knows 3D also knows English?

I think it will help some people, but i don't think there really is a large audience who doesn't speak English and also does 3d. Did you ever get any questions / requests for specific languages?

Considering it's quite some hassle (and is quite expensive) i would say it's not worth it.

What language? Why? Your english is very clear. I could understand a Southener to english translation but this seems perfectly fine ^^

I always appreciate a English translation but honestly if its not a language I understand and its really worth it, I find a way to translate it. I never really expect someone to translate it for me ahead of time. Using their native language is pretty much expected.

explanations in video tutorials are great, but the most important thing is visually watching the work flow. that goes further than any language. so long as that comes across clean and accurately, i wouldn't invest the money into translating your work. an alternative could be providing a document transcript that can be downloaded and translated by the end user.

your videos and voice are very clear. no need for translation. however you could enable the CCs on youtube and allow everyone to edit them. if something is unclear a native could easily add a description.

Could u do like text to speech, and have subtitles that could be turned on/off for the video? Then just convert that text to another languages?

I have a 3d modeling book here in japanese... not a word in english, however the pictures are so self explanatory that you get the guy's workflow right away and understand why he does things the way he does... it's so well explained visually.

I brought it to my friend who can read almost fluently and I would describe what I think I saw in the tutorials, and he would read it and basically say I was right.

So translated or not, if you show the process and location of the tools clearly, it can be understood visually.

The book centers around the use of a program called metasequoia, and a ps2 workflow but mesh is mesh and the knowledge to me at least seems universal. (the handy cd also came with lightwave and 3dsmax files too ^_^)
