Tf2 Background question

Hey I was just wondering if anyone knows how to do this.


That background image of the Demo Vs soldier thats on the background of TF2 splash screen, is that avaliable in a nice desktop resolution anywhere? I googled it and found small images of it couldnt find desktop sized? Or is there a way to extract the image at all from the TF2 Directory ?



And while were at it maybe post up some of your awesome Team Fortress desktop images?

You can use GCFScape and VTFEdit to extract the original file. I'm not in Windows at the moment, but it's probably in a gcf called something like TF2 Materials, and it would be under the console directory.

I extracted these some time ago and just updated the zip to include the war backgrounds and the newer ones they released a few months ago.

Included in the zip file are;
- vtf_OrigSize: The original .vtf files (1024x1024) Valve squishes them and stretches them out in game.
- tga_OrigSize: The .vtf's converted to .tga's (1024x1024) resize these to whatever res you use.
- jpg_Resized: Resized to screen common screen resolutions.
