When someone has been looking at a game's art for too long during production and wants to revisit it because they're bored of it rather than it actually not looking good or being out of date. This feedback usually comes from producers or art directors. I can't think of the term right now and it's bugging me. Would it be the art equivalent of feature creep? We had a term for this at ea but I can't remember what it was.
in german we like to use the word "betriebsblind", which would be something like routine-blinded or professionally blinkered.
too bad this happens often to myself, which results in wasting time on something that is already good enough, .
Okay so, you're saying the producers and such think the artwork made at the beginning of the project is inferior to the art at the end of the project? I don't know what kind of official term you'd give that, but it's just poor management.
The art director should be making sure that the art is consistent throughout the entire project. It's a failure on their part if it's not.
Yeah not really looking for justification as to why people are idiots that get bored of looking at art for too long and want to change it. Just trying to remember the term. It's not the problem of old art built at the beginning of the project looking worse then new art it's the problem of an individual looking at the art for too long and then wanting to redo it, art directors sometimes do this at ea, the bad ones anyways. I thought this was a common term but apparently not, I'll e-mail my friend at relic he'll remember the term.
