Uninspired and boring design, it doesn't communicate munition or weapons at all. And it does have the overused GOW or UT3 lightning style.
To many fragile and not logical small parts apparently transforming at the front, pipes that are obvious random design additions and a boring base shape (some chamfered or beveled box) make it questionable at all if that design tries hard at all.
Execution is good as it gets for copying the gow style but it doesn't stand out in these days at all with so many other 3d artists going for the same, and for that the design truly can't deliver at all.
So medicore in my eyes, not bad but not trying to be impressive either
I think thats pretty harsh crit considering the model is pretty close to the concept. I think this is a good execution of the concept material, perhaps the lighting style is overused but that shouldnt in my eyes detract from the modeling and texturing of the model. It would seem that the concept has even more scratches on it
well take that out from my comment then but I still think the design is weak. You didn't mention the concept or it being based on someone else's work so thats why I assumed the way I did.
I think more / stronger specularity would help a great deal here. I also agree with the comments about scratches, they are becoming the new lens flare.
Looks pretty good Daniel, I think you really came pretty close to the actual model the original team made. Did you make a highpoly for this? If so it would be nice to see it, because it looks like some of your corners on the main container are way to soft. Notice in the concept there are 2 hard edges on every corner (marked by blue in my paintover). And then the dark grey strip on top looks like its just painted on with no real edge definition in the normal, but as it goes over the edge to round off it becomes more of a panel rather then a paint stripe(marked in green). A nice highpoly could solve many of these issues. The only other thing I would say is pay closer attention to the lights on the swing arms, they are smaller rings and dots of light rather than the single large light you have.
thats for the crit nrek, i didnt make a highpoly which is probly why the edges dont appear to be hard, im going to try to make the top pop a bit more with crazy bump and the material editor, and fixed the circular lights,
choasquack, i upped the spec a bit since that last picture

Um I think you forgot to post the picture, or maybe theres something wrong with my internet explorer
I think you also have abit too many scratches on those edges!
But ya that does still look good
