I've started working on a new project. I'm modelling a Mig 29 fighter jet for a school assingment. Right now I'm working on the high poly. I'm on a pretty tight shedule so I won't be going in to much detail for the high poly. I'll add seams and stuff to the normal maps in photoshop later on.
For the moment I'm trying to get the basic shape and flow of the model just right before I start adding more details. A couple of renders:

I would however put some effort into modeling the jet nozzles in highpoly, definitely something where the effort will pay off.
And is it me or does the bottom of the vertical stabilizers look a bit bumpy and wobbly ?
- Xoliul: It's actually a different part called a slat, which can move up and down, that's why I modelled it apart from the rest of the wing. The wobbliness is probably due to the raytrace material.
Small update + isolines:
Nice work
The nozzles are looking good. Not sure what version you're making, they seem to differ a lot. Is your model going to be a working or a derelict version ? Would be interesting if you could have the nozzles do thrust vectoring!
The most recent models of mig 29 aircraft have OVT trust vector nozzles, which makes it totally awesome! Check this video to see what it's capable of: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9fJDwgrYi8[/ame]
But the version I'm making just has regular nozzle, because they look a little more interesting visually.
Here's the wiki link about slats in general: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leading_edge_slats
and here's a picture of them extended on a mig 29:
And thanks for the link, I missed the "leading edge" keywords.
Makes me think I should do a plane as well, so I can get a bit more into these things. At least I know I'll never run out of ref using airliners.net.

I think I also saw a mig 29 do one without thrust vectoring on an airshow when I was a kid.
Anyway, Almost done with the high-poly model.
Still need to add some none symmetric details and the wheel well for the front gear, but that will be for tomorrow, together with the low-poly hopefully.
Goodjob.
Low poly and baking is done. Still have to add the seams in PS tho. Now comes the impossible task of texturing the whole thing and making a cockpit in 1 day, need to have this done by tonight.
Good luck with the time pressure mate..
Here's what I ended up handing in. I wasn't really satisfied with the texturing yet, it needs more small details and finishing touches, but I ran out of time. I'm going to pimp them a little more when I have the time and add this to my portfolio.
,it could use some weathering and dirtying, other than that it looks great.
Good clean render too!
