Bad day for UVW unwraping (3dsmax) :(

Right Ive got two problems here

EDIT: Problem 1 fixed. Just problem 2 now

Problem 2. When I apply my own custom seams along the shoe and say I select the wrong edge, well then i would hit the undo botton and that would for some reason make the red seams in the picture appear adding onto the ones I already selected, which is annoying because I have to unselect the new unwanted seams that always seem to pop up when I select undo.

So can anyone help please, thanks in advance.

Did you try go into Edit seams-mode and ctrl+click on the unwanted seams?

Ah I wasnt in edit seams-mode, thanks corv
I would instead select all the edges instead and then select Edge Sel To Seams, which is probebly the more difficult way of doing it

The green seams you start with are max's attempt at an unwrap. If you create your own, they show up in blue. Once you make your own seams the green ones are ignored. Uncheck the show seams button and the green ones will go away (I think that's the one you want, its either that or the one grouped with it. I'm on my phone so I can't check atm)

Sweet, I thought the answer you were given was good for both questions but it looked like you still had some trouble with question number 2

The way I would do things is in UVunwrap edit mode to simply select everything in face mode and apply a planar map. Then with the whole selection apply some relaxing (so they are relaxed but still connected).
After that just select edges and then hit CTRL+B to break them there. Relax each UV shell after that an you should have a good start.

You could also try headus' UVLayout, which is fantastic. The only drawback is that you have additional exporting / importing to do, but other than that it's really easy to use, and really fast.
