Hey guys, the other day I saw an online video where this guy took a panoramic image in Painter and used some filter to turn it into a spherized env map. Is there a way to do this in photoshop?
HDRShop is also great for converting to different types of environment map layouts. I use it pretty often at work going between cubecross and equirectangular.
Hmm, I was just playing around with that polar coordinate filter in PS and it seems to do that same effect I saw in Painter, cool thanks. But now that Im looking at it I guess I actually want to get a mirror ball image out of a regular or panoramic landscape image. My brain just lit up and I just got that mirror ball effect by slapping an image to a sphere in max (duh). I guess I dont really need to use PS for that but it'd be quicker if it can be done in PS. Is there?
In Photoship you can just use Lens correction with negative "remove distortion and scale, give it a black border and use extend edge" Don't know whether the thing is physically correct, but the image looks about right for a mirror ball image. I'm sure the reflections would look about right.
