Hi, I was wondering if some other polycounters are interested in modern architecture. For example I've been following http://www.spaceinvading.com/ for a while and it just gives me lots of motivation and inspiration, I think it's beautiful. Mirror's Edge is my favourite game when it comes to visuals too btw

i think half of them modern architecture buildings are somewhat ugly

in my opinion, a house should be purposeful (which i think is a maximum usability of the room the house contains) and shouldnt contain weird shapes (like a house from an architect student ive seen recently, he made two houses and connected them with a tube , and made some weird windows, it looked like this guy just figered out booleans in 3dsmax or something)

and most importand, useless expensive things are totally annoying:
at a school i was attemting, they covered th whole house with riffled wood and glass over it, because they thought it would heat it in winter and cool in summer, but that was nonsense and so the house is freaking cold in winter and like a sauna in summer.
another example is for that is art
since official buildings should pay 5% of there budged for art araund here, there is crappy pseudo art everywhere
(i mean wooden blocks and such things just standing around , okok, i need to get a camera, then i can show you what i mean)

ok, enough of moaning, but you should understand why i see modern architecture critical

you're getting me wrong, modern architecture can go very well with my opinion, but its more difficult than just creating some shapes and add in levels and stairs so people can walk around in your "creation"

what i liked was some guy who made a greenhouse and build himself somekind of favela thing inside whith alot of tropical plants surounding it. it looked awesome and was something some people could call modern architecture

edit: you should know that my house is full of stucco and has huge windows which looks good but isnt really practical.

erm, the driving purpose behind modern architecture is building to a purpose, having the aesthetics of the building flow from the necessities of the space rather than getting in the way of it (thank you, cheep steel)

I actually recommend the writings/articles/compilations of stuff (!) by Koolhaas. Quite the idea man.
