I do have... :poly141::shifty::poly122:
Worked on a project which was some how linked to US invasion in Iraq.
Am I the only one or there are others who regret on working on some project and having regrets due to any reason?
unless your project caused the invasion of iraq through some bizarre means, I wouldn't worry about it Heck, if you feel bad about it then you can't be a bad person, right?
and if you look at bad experiences, projects or whatever as learning experiences then theyre something to be glad of, even if at the time they suck balls
Not art related, but I used to valet cars at Sycuan Casino here in San Diego. Basically funneled money out of old people to support the drug habits of Native Americans and line the pockets of the top 1%.
Worked at a cell phone company for a bit in a commission job environment. Lots of pressure to swindle hundreds of dollars long term out of people so i could see a couple bucks out of it in my paycheck.
A lot of unethical jobs are some of the best paying for people without higher education or skilled labor training, but what can you do? That's how the world works, just glad i eventually decided to go back to school.
Imo the argument: "someone else would have done it anyway" just doesn't cut it. The point is If you praticipate in a project its only you who is responsible for the things you do there. It's senseless to argue that there are thousand others who would have done it anyway when it all it takes is you to do the dirty work.
@ Crazyfingers: To pretend "thats how the world works" can justify nearly every thing. I think the world works this way too often and mostly because people tend to justify themselfs and their actions with doubtful arguments.
@ crtlZ PLease don't take my comment personal. It's not supposed to judge over your involvement because there is just not much information to judge anything here. Just take the comment as a gerneral approach to this kind of problem.
WOW, you made the software that Dick Cheney used to make George Bush his puppet? Amazing!
Honestly, I don't see how you could have made something to make the U.S. go into Iraq. It's pretty well known now, that Bush/Cheney had every intention in going to Iraq. No project could have encouraged or prevented that.
Talking about americas army game?
If its the first god bless you if its aa3 you should regret it and be ashamed of yourself.
Such a waste of hdd space.

CtrlZ : I had a close call at a small indie studio that was on its arse finacially. The owner was getting increasingly desperate and got it into his head that we had to do something "controvertial" to make any money. His idea was way out of order, in really bad taste. I flat out said to him there and then that I wouldn't be working on it if it went ahead. I was pleasantly surprised that after that, a bunch of other co-workers also refused to work on it so he cancelled it.
It's not always this clear-cut though. Sometimes a project only crosses the line part-way through for various reasons. I'm no ultra-sensitive conservative, but sometimes you have to draw the line.
ctrlZ: So did you render up a 3d fake showing Saddam with yellow cake in his hands?
Reminds me of how we scared the Russians off in the 80's with the star wars defense system. There was no way it could work (it's like trying to hit a bullet in the sky with another bullet); but that didn't matter. The computer animation at the time claimed the US could do it and that was all that was needed to fool and scare the Russians.

That's what I do now. Well, I manage those people Stay out of this business!

But, no, I have no project regrets, I take them all as learning experiences (good or bad).
All in all you make the choice in what you work on or who you work for, someone would have done it if it wasn't you.
Good luck otherwise, also 'where be your portfolio?!, mate'

A learning experience, but a real waste of a year at the same time.
I didn't get into Clara's pants.
Other than that, I'm alright.
