I'm looking for some insight on rendering highpoly models within Max. I've tried searching all over the forums for that picture and link (i know that is super vague) that shows how to set it up - but no luck.
i've tried making my own shaders but that fails pretty quickly.

You need to take into accound your framing, composition, lighting and shading amongst many other things.

For a basic lighting look into the 'three point' lighting setup, although not really realistic for lighting environments, it does show off your models forms really well.
thats what I was looking for. I think I have a fairly decent idea when it comes to lighting and what not, just not when it comes to the material aspect.
