All done, the color tune, blureffects and background were composted in Photoshop.
Poster of something....
Hello all, is been a long time since I post any thing in the site. Last week I restarted checking out the site again, then realized I missed a lot. Oh well.
This time I am doing a 3d environment just for fun, welcome everyone's comments.
Enjoy.
Modeled most the elements from my concept sketches, they are still just simple polygons, no hi detail model yet. Right now I am just want to place them in position and fit the perspective.
skylebones__Thanks.
sXe Seany__I will do the low poly with high detail textures, probably some like the Team Fortress 2 or WOW type environments.
Dippndots__Thanks. Right now I just making it for fun, test some my environment modeling skills. But if it turn out good later, I mind do a animation around it.
AsaNYC__Thanks, for the comment.
ru4it__Thank you.
Got all the objects I want in the scene, so far they are fit the overall perspective pretty well.(maybe a little crowd) I add couple things to the scene that's are in my final 2d concept, they are: a train and two crank towers.
Train is use to transport the construction materials, cranks use to move the construction materials.
Next step is pick the main focus 3d models to add details to them and texture them, that is gonna take a while.
The scale of some stuff is confusing me, maybe because they look like something they aren't...
There are platforms that have what appear to be railings around them, but compared to the human scale example you have, the average human wouldn't even come halfway up those things. I'm assuming they're not guard rails, but they look an awful lot like them, especially the one that also looks like it has a ramp or stairs with rails on either side. The train tracks seem like they'd be at least as tall as a human as well.
Just comes across as sort of odd... like a land of giants sort of vibe.
I'm sure you've got plans for all of that, tho. It's just messing with my head. Awesome concept. Certainly looks like it'd be a hell of a lot of fun to run around and explore it in a game.
psychoticprankster__Thanks dude.
whats_true__I got some close in shots, and hope the models will look better with textures later.
man_o_mule__Thanks. I think I will break down the scene after I finish everything, so it wouldn't look so messy. (this also might answer the What_True's question)
Dippndots__The scale of the scene did became bigger after I modeled the every thing from concept, I think it is because I don't have much experience with modeling big environment. Oh well, every one have their first time, right.
Squiggly_P__Thanks man, your comment really help me. I did scale back some stuffs, like the rail track you pointed out. The rails on the side of stair, they are giant stone stone pillars.
albino_goldfish__thanks.
Got the some vehicles done, they are the major vehicles will be in the scene.
The technology levels of these vehicle, are like late steam age and the early gas engine time. So the big machine are power by steam, the little trucks and cars are gas engine.
Also started detailing the buildings, first one finished is wind mill tower, right one I am doing the water mill temple.
Enjoy.
I am big fan of big old train, finally I made one this time.
albino_goldfish__Thanks for the comment, the final thing is gonna take some time.
Since last post I add a train tunnel at the right wall, a new cliff house above the tunnel, and two power pullers. The pullers are use for pulling statues, they are connecting with wind mill tower and water mill temple.
This is the final layout of the scene, right now I am adding details to each models, hopefully this process will be done by end of this week.
WOW, thats a lot of models. cant wait to see when its all done. How bout u render wth skylight? it always makes low poly models look good and easier to look at.
makecg__Thanks man, I always like put little details in my concepts.
Alune__Thanks.
roosterMAP__I have a skylight and a regular spot light with area shadow.
Got the windmill's texture done, the style I am going for is Asian mix with middle east style architecture, next one I am going to do is watermill.
I hope I can get every thing done by April, I hope..
Ged__Thanks. No, I am gonna adjust the model to look like in my sketches, the cartoony look is from my bad line drawing had.
AnimeAngel__Thanks, sorry for took that long to get the color in.
A.Kincade__Thanks.
MartinH__LOL. Yes I will be 4000 years old man when this is done.
I got the watermill done this time, still got lots to go.
Enjoy.
Eltrex06, Joshflighter and albino_goldfish__ Thank you all.
Hi all, this time I got all the walls textured, and I start laying the environment, changed a little from the original layout.
The plain bright color buildings are the last models I gonna texture, then I will start texture the vehicles.
My original plan for finish the whole thing in April is not gonna happen any more, for now I don't know when.
Looking good! Only thing I have to say is that the tiling of your stone texture is too aparent. It's way too obvious that you slapped on a simple tiling texture on 75% of your props.
buddikaman__I am making it in Max now, I do want to put it into UDK after I complete it. Thanks.
marlfox8__Thanks.
Prophecies__Good comment man, I am now making some more wall textures, it will look better later. Thanks
The church building is done. Because this building is a church, so I made the textures little cleaner, try separate it from rest the buildings.
Currently I am working on the new wall textures and texturing the factory building in the middle of the environment.
very cool, i like the wrought iron on the church and the funny looking stained glass :P really nice work.
only complaint on the church is those windows extruding out of the roof (gables or whatever there called) looks really off. The scale is way too small in comparison to the rest of the windows and the door.
I agree that the gables could be a bit bigger, but they aren't as small as you say they are. If I remember correctly, those aren't suppposed to be used as windows, but more for ventilation in the attic. Otherwise the temperatures get too high in the summer heat and cause fires, bringing years and years of work down with it.
Eltrex06__Glad you like the window, I did the window like neon lights, so the church will stand up more.
Prophecies__The gables you see are vents for light and air.
n88tr__Thank you for your hat.
New stuffs
The church now is in the center of the scene, it was at right side before.
Add the oil tanks and pipes in, yellow and orange color things.
New texture to the tall walls.
Only big building left to texture now is the cliff building at the right, then I will do the vehicles and small buildings.
Skillmister__Thanks for the support.
n88tr__Thanks.
whats_true__Great tip, I may try it after the scene is all done.
zxcman__No I am not gonna bake the shadow, there just too many tiled textures in the scene, baking all the shadows will just take forever to do. Thanks for the suggestion.
Hello all,
Finally got all the vehicles textured, now the last things left to texture are some small buildings.
Enjoy.
Brainstorming ideas for a short for the scene now, may get some story boards on next update.

this looks likes its going to be cool, what are your plans overall for the scene?

The light blue thing is the human scale.
that's exactly what i thought when i saw this. looks like a good start

Hello
I got the parts done, including all the big and little houses, and next I gonna start UV wrapping and texture them.
Enjoy.

The water gate done.
Water gate is part of ruin grave, the yellow and rest of buildings on it are built by modern settlers.
Enjoy.
