Looking for Tokyo reference (attn: Tokyo residents!)

I'm currently gathering reference (or not as the case may be) for an environment project I want to do.
The inspiration is going to be the kind of neighbourhood residential districts in Tokyo. I'm sure these have a name, but I'm having real trouble finding photo's of the kind of areas I am looking for. Obviously searching for Tokyo yields mostly the common areas, Shibuya, Ginza etc.
I am specifically interested in finding photos of the kind of residential areas, I don't know enough about Japan to know whereabouts these are and unfortunately the best example I can give is the kind of area used in the Manga/Anime Bleach. If anyone is familiar with that, it's the area where Ichigo and family live. I have also noticed some similar styled locations in the Persona games, but unfortunately, no real world reference.
I know there are a few people on here who live in Japan and was wondering whether they or anyone could kindly suggest a place to look, or how to better tailor my searches to find the kind of photographs I'm looking for.

It seems Roppongi in street view is perfect!
also you might want to check out gotanda. it's the dirty side of tokyo. looks like america lol
