yep.
Single meshes work best. If you intersect polygons they flicker. The only way around it is to make everything double sided but then you get a performance hit.
shame really, as the other engines like sandy don't flicker at all.
I always stuck to Sandy 3D, despite playing around with Papervision and Away 3D. I just found it to be a bit more stable and well-documented, even though it was a little harder to code for.
I ought to post up some of my old AS3 3D experiments. I was working on a combination of flash 3D and 2D texture lip-syncing. I actually got it up and running. I'm updating my website right now, maybe I'll get it up there in the next week or two.
