hi, I'm pretty new here but i taught id just post up some WIP on my first sub-D model, watched racer's tutorial and found out quite a lot from it. I'm afraid this may go on for a while as its my first sub-D and hopefully my first texture after that so sort of jumping in at the deep end a bit. I've been at it for about a week now and not to much to show for it so here it goes.:) (c&c welcome)
Optic first and sorry i cant really show you it all at once this old PC ain't up to much:
here's a pic from earlier when I hadn't turbosmoothed the scope mount and I could display it all at once:
and finally some view-port shots as it's the only way i can get it all to show up turbosmoothed:
as you can see there's still a long way to go and a lot of detail to add but I'm getting there.

Can you link me to the tutorial?
there you go ayro
The lighting setup looks sick. Can you tell me what you did to get it to look like that??
on a side note i didn't get much further with it today and probably will grind to a complete halt over the next week as I'm trawling through mounds of coursework at the moment and am only able to fit the odd ten minutes in. got a little work on the stock done but haven't sorted out all the issues with the pistol-grip built into it so ignore that, i decided I'd go for an afghan style one so no eye protector thing, cheek-pad removed(maybe replaced with an improv one like a piece of polystyrene taped there?) and also some grungy textures, they seem to be very popular round here.
anyway finished the high poly so now to optimization which i've heard is a right pain. as always crits more than welcome, im still very new to this so any advice would help.
