First off it's not my model, it was done by End of Days. I'm only practicing my texturing ability with this.

Shown with specular, although I don't have a specular map to control the amount of gloss per material.
Basic diffuse material plus ambient occlusion (full sized 1024^2):

Hardly a masterpiece, but as long it does well in game.
I think the grip material will look alright with some toning down of the bumps in the normal and a controlling specular.
The metal however, is where I'm at a loss, I think I should tone down the grain as I'm hoping to get it to look somewhere like this :

Painting diffuse lighting is acceptable, although I would prefer to get the same effect through use of shaders as well.
