Gator Soldier-WIP opinions wanted

My newest project.

The plan is to do a series of armored gators/crocs:
I will be doing the entire process of modeling texturing rigging and animating.

Please feel free to leave any opinions good or bad and I will take them into consideration.

First up is the light armored alligator




tail and spines added, texture started

this is my first time hand painting a texture so plz advice in any way:

way too turbosmoothed up top. The head looks like a 90's kids cartoon, and doesn't meet the chest/neck in a very natural way. Try and bring out the chest some more too, dont leave it all down to textures!

fixed the junction between the head an body the edgeflow is much more natural.

Scrapped the head and texture I plan on going for a different look here is an update on the model and a posible armor concept:
