Crossbow "Military Issue"

I am working on a crossbow. I'd like to know what your first impressions are and I welcome C-crit on anything. The leather straps are not done, I've just blocked them in. Also I'll probably bake this in the end.

Info: It's supposed to be a military issue, large crossbow, which might've been used by medieval soldiers or whatever. It's not after a concept more than my loose scribblings and me looking at some ref pics.
The materials will probably be mostly painted iron and wood. And the leather straps.

Whaddaya think?

IMO you should take the crossbow into zbrush or mudbox and do a little bit of sculpting on it since atm the whole model is looking a bit to clean.

Nice work so far, the lines are very clean, I think the bowstring could defiantly use some work it looks rubbery as is. Also, there could probably be a bit more of a groove in the loading area the bolt doesn't seem terribly secure atm. Good work so far keep working on it!

@shiraz, Yes I should do that shouldn't I ? I was planning on sculpting the leather straps at the very least, also I use Mudbox.

@woogity, Thanks, good points, I'll attend to those. The bowstring especially do look rubbery. Also I dig your work Woog!

Alright, so I think I'll be doing a few renditions of this thing in mudbox, trying stuff out ya' know? Lets look at it like this, I'll be using this crossbow for some practicing. I don't wanna get bogged down on the first try. I think I'll skip sculpting the wood/woodtexture next time, what do you think?

Also I'll probably go back to Max with it aswell. I haven't attended a few stuff yet like the bowstring and the other crit I got.

But I do wanna hear your thoughts! Anyway here it is, I just pulled it into Mudbox and messed around some.

the bow part looks a little over bet for being in the rest position. I found this picture that might help explain what Im talking about.
