Hello polydoods!
We're a group of second year students at the Game Assembly in Malmö, Sweden and we'd like to share our current project with you! We got 10 weeks to make a space shooter kind of game with an fps player view. Those were pretty much the only limitations we had in terms of design. The rest was up to us.
The Game
We've decided to make a hero defense game were you take the role of a paper plane and your job is to defend three planets from various enemies that spawn in waves. The planets are used as shops for such things as weapons, ship upgrades and repairs. The enemy forces consists of hand crafted planes and lanterns that scale in difficulty as the level progresses. For each enemy you destroy you'll get a paper to put on your paper spike. The paper is used as currency to build your own ship and purchase new weapons such as crayon missiles!
We also have a throphy system in mind where you get medals and trophies depending on the feats you perfom ingame. These, along with highscores, can be accessed and viewed in a trophy room via the main menu or the ingame menu. The style of the game is rather cartoony with lots of handpainted textures and a handcrafted feel.
