Hey guys,
I will be going to Thailand for a month and a week, anybody got some recommendations? I will be staying in Bangkok for a few days and then move on to Chiang Mai. After that I will go on a 20 hour trainride(aka death) to Surat Thani and visit the many islands there(Im going for my PADI). I am still not sure on which islands I will be visiting, I heard so many cool things about each of them that it is hard to decide
.
Well anyway, I was wondering if anybody here has some tips or recommendations. I have some friends that went there before but you never know what the collective masses of polycount might know :poly122:
PS: I will be leaving tomorrow, kind of short notice I know :poly136:

Went on a canal boat tour which was good fun and you got to see lots of different areas and canal buildings:

Koh san road was where I went for food, got some good beers there and is a popular destination for tourists:

Went up the baiyoke tower, pretty tall building, and ate sushi in the restaurant up there:

Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya is the old capital of Siam as I remember. Went there and is close to Bangkok:

Went to Chiang Mai and also stayed with the hill tribes near Burmese border. Chiang Mai Thailands highest mountain near it called Doi Inthanon and a good Wat:
wat-chedi-luang, it was struck by lightning and exploded:

Final destination was Railay beach, near Krabi and Phuket. Turquoise beaches, excellent food and great beer. Theres an island near here where they filmed some of `The Man with the Golden Gun`I guess since you're going to Surat Thani, you won't be in the area. Koh Samui is famous for its tourisitic hedonism, but I've heard mixed reviews.
Try the deep fried catfish, I really enjoyed it.
Have fun!:)
