So I'm getting my folio together and decided I'd do something from the Art of World of Warcraft artbook. Unfortunately I can't post the original concept, as I don't have a digital version of it.
Here's my current progress.

I'm hi-jacking my own thread and making this my all-purpose work in progress thread.
I haven't been progressing very well with the orc character (I've done a pass on the arms, hands and the upper body), but he's not quite going where I would like it to. I'm going to do a full re-work of the concept and come up with something else that I'll be more happy with. I'll post up some early concept work later this week for some C&C.
In the meantime, I busted this little dude out while messing about with Arsh's baseman in ZBrush in half hour. A quick little paintover messing with some ideas.
I'm happy with the direction this is going.
Early days yet, and still needs some major detailing love.
Crits/Paintovers always welcome.

only the back-concept is too boring imo
although i do like the ungloved hand more, kinda builds up then he's got tiny fingers on the end... might just be personal preference tho. Hope you do more with it
Still have no idea what to do with the back. It's all still pretty sketchy and unclear in a few areas, but I'll keep messing about until I hit something I'm truely happy with. But this gives me enough to go on with.

This is a model I've been wanting to do for some time. Did a real quick sketch one night and have been working on the modelling on and off for a while so I figured I'd show some progress on it.
Still needs doing:
- hair
- another pass on the clothing creases
- polish pass on the clothes (seams, micro detail)
- Chuck Taylors shoes
- arms/hands
- crazy fandangled watch
- some form of pistol (also fandangled)
- more work on the helmet (face guard, chin strap, little plastic bits and bobs)
That model looks like a boy with a mans head, and im not sure what youre going for? the chibi look or what? Eitherway it could probably do with a tad more exaggerating perhaps... maybe thats just me and the lack of textures.
diggin the colours man. Hope you do them chuck's some justice ^^

The face on the character is bugging me, it's meant to be a little kid. I'll be looking into some more ref to make it more child-like.
Nizza_waaarg: I need to fandangle the shit out of it! The main reason I'm doing this model is because it'll be quick. I'm stuck in Ballarat for the next two and a bit weeks with nothing else to do, so I'll get a change to do a bit of art.
Gallows: I'll definitely finish the alien space guy. It's a piece I really want to take my time with and make sure I do it right. I'll have updates on it soon.
Also I guess either I did a bad job with the last model or it just wasn't obvious enough with the Football helmet. It's a "next-gen" version of Commander Keen.

he needs to be way more pale skinned though. but not white, like in the game.
Draffin: Yeah, it's meant to be Commander Keen. I'm glad someone picked up on it :P
EQ: I haven't forgotten about the G on the side. The colours were just placeholder shaders in Maya for the screenshot. Unfortunately I went with the new style helmets for the face guard rather than the old.
00Zero: I will make him paler once I get started on the texturing (still doing the hi-res), I'm going to make him a red head kid with some minor freckles as well.

gammaslam: Thanks, mate. There really isn't much there to rig as most of it is a paintover over some random ZBrush sketching. I do plan on getting back to finishing that model but I'm taking my time with it as I really want to do something special with it. But you're free to use in your animations once it's done
Some quick updates:
Nearly finished the helmet, just need to do the internal padding. I was going to model in the chin strap as well, but decided against it for now. Also finished his shoes, though I will do one with loose laces coming from under the jeans.
Now to get into ZBrush and really fix the creases on those jeans (utter rubbish at the moment) and do a final pass on everything.
I'm also doing the comp over at GA. Here's some progress on it.
Earthquake: Keen actually never had the Green Bay logo on his helmet, but it was supposed to be a Packers helmet.
roosterMAP: Thanks, dude. I'm really enjoying working on this guy, as it takes me away from ZBrush for a while and get back to some old school hand painted stuff.
I'm going to keep working through the night on this and hopefully finish the hi-res before sleep.
Things left:
- arms
- fix laces on the floppy shoe
- final polish on the clothes
- fancy wrist watch
- pogo stick
- laser gun
I don't really think it looks like me THAT much, but who am I to argue when it's 4 against 1 :P
Another update. I'm pretty sure that I'm done with the hi-res unless someone can point out something worth fixing. I'll be doing Keen's pogostick and laser gun at the end.
Also, I started messing around with BoBo's demon SDK. A long way to go yet (no idea what is going on with the mouth).
omg, you're right. I should be fired.
Progress today on the lo-res... Blocked in and unwrapped most of it (need to do the belt, watch and helmet) and will start baking normals and begin texturing tomorrow.
It's just passed midnight so I'm off to do some digital painting for an hour or two.
Pretty much it's all meshed in, unwrapped, normals baked (a few dodgey areas that need cleaning up) and a quick lay down of some colour. Now it's off to cleaning and refining textures.
Cleaned the normals up, minor work on the colour map.

I loved this game!
His eyes rite now are creepy as hell! Id tone down the red levels on the shoes, not by much just enough that it doesn't bloom out. He needs more signs of him being outside and on an adventure. So dirty shoes, pants, and hands.
