Maybe if you only watch dubbed/edited for the kiddies stuff...
Actually, he has a point, snemmy. A lot of anime is based off of manga. And its quite common for the anime to end up having considerably more "content" then the manga its based on. Manga is tied to a fixed weekly or monthly release schedule. This release schedule rarely ever deviates, and if it does, it is usually for the author and artists to take a break. Anime is released weekly, and hardly ever takes a break.
As such, it is very common for some of the longer-running anime series to "catch-up" to their manga counterparts. They then proceed to create "filler" content to take up time while the source material catches up. Most of the this filler ranges from decent, to absolutely awful. And all of it pads the series out with unnecessary content that can be safely skipped over.
I really enjoy anime, but I'll freely admit that a lot of the longer series tend to accummulate way too much filler, and suffer for it. Naruto and Bleach are notorios for some of their extremely long and time-wasting filler arcs. A lot of the better anime series have a much more fixed release schedule, and don't force the story elements.
I think it's more like "anime gets bad when they decide that milking it is more important than the story".
Let's be honest: Show like Naruto and Bleach -- while they started out good and occasionally put out some fun episodes here and there -- will never end. Stories require endings, not endless sequence of anti-climaxes that never go anywhere but back to the start. Perfectly fine shows ruined by an industry that's crashed so badly it doesn't even have a choice but to milk them now.
Of course that's all a tangent. Princess Robot Bubblegum is win. Do want.

Here's hoping it's as good as their other shows:

240 episodes long, no filler.
Sweet Jesus.
but sometimes they have to do it, for living.
yep, it sells .
I also skip filler, like the 120 or so episodes of Naruto filler. Didn't even bother.

I listened to it again. It sounds very familiar but it is a little different right at the end.
