Hi all-
in between finishing my seeress and starting my next game mesh project, I decided to try my hand at using ZBrush texturing and rendering, which I've not really done before. I also wanted to develop some skin sculpting further than my game sculpts have let me, hence my "old man" take on big D. Mention to the zbrush character design eBook from 3D total which was a useful reference in developing wrinkles.
Here is the result, which represents my first foray into materials and painting in the mighty Z. No other progs used except for a brightness tweak in photoshop, and the beads spline in Maya- the skulls are ZB polypsheres. It's a long way from perfect, and the back of the model looks a bit screwy due to some projection master painting hiccups cos I didn't really get what I was doing
Still, first effort and all that!
Crits and comments are, as always, welcome!

all i've really done is polypainting, but with projectionmaster whenever i drop something, i'll maybe use a texture painter or something. whenever i pick it up, the result is always disappointing. also, if i pick up from two different angles which overlap, instead of just blending, it continues making it darker. so my quick attempts with projectionmaster haven't been the best solution to texturing in zbrush...was just curious how you did this.
In the end I had painted over pretty much from scratch to get this- the only thing in projection I was able to use was the highlight brush over my polypainting, and this was erratic also- really bad artefacting as the head curves away from view, hence only showing theis view. I think my main issue was having posed the bust before painting, as the areas that remained in the sculpt pose around the chest behaved fine, and the head and neck had issues. If I do this again, I'll try projecting or ZAPPlinking before doing any posing at all and see how that goes, but this is basically polypainted 90%. I *could* repaint a lot of areas and fix it, but I got one decent view which is enough for a learning piece and I can take what I now know for the next hi res paint I do!

PS I recommend that eBook for some excellent texturing advice, which I think would have worked a treat for me had I not posed prior to painting!
PPS And it was mainly a sculpting exercise anyway- the paint and render were and hour or so of mucking about this morning! next piece will be much more focused on the final paint and render- and will probably be another SF character
