Oh man tell me about it. I was looking at his stuff just the other week. His website is a great resource, especially the guest pages, some great paint jobs there. Fantasting stuff. Can't wait to trt out such techniques, mixing them with 3D printing maybe ... Yum!!!
Having helped sculpt some toys with armor in past, I can say. This guy is first class at mechanics. I never could do such. Always ended up doing the best work on clothes or flesh when allowed. I left most of mechanics to others.
IMO Mechanics are the hardest because of the symmetry needed. You can always cheat on flesh and clothes, but metal and such requires precision. Any variance, and it doesn't look right.
I'm not sure if this is clear, but he did say "Yes my approach is traditional sculpture, even if recently I'm interesting in 3D modelling too." so the stuff he's showing on that thread was sculpted in clay.... That shit is CRAZY!
I had seen his work a while ago, and loved it. That kind of sculpting blows my mind, since I can sculpt humans, and clothing to a degree in clay, but mechanics? Hell no! That stuff is REALLY hard.
Thanks for the link, man, thought I lost that thread forever.
Not all of it is clay. He mixes his stuff up a lot. Found this guy a month ago and have been loving his stuff since. Want to buy one of his mechs hehe :]
yeah that stuff is looking hard as hell. if you're a clayman, you can shape it, then cheat by leting it dry, and afterwards sand it. much easier to get hard smooth surfaces that way.

Either way... HOLY SHIT!
Fucking awesome.
If I could afford a custom from him, though...
