A collegue of mine brought this question up and I thought its a kinda funny subject.

like the title says, have you ever made a model of someone you like? sculpt, 3d game model, used them as main reference or whatever?

did it freak them out? lol

i've taken some pictures of them though, so i could try it one day. their main issue was that i'd probably post my wip's over here, and they didn't really like the thought of their disfigured 3d representation being published on a public board :P.

i do that for a living

half the staff at the studio has been scanned, extensively photographed, motioncaptured and so on and we regularly end up working on co-worker's likenesses. usually looks alright until the point where they get animated, which opens an entirely different can of worms.

i'd not recommend doing this to someone you're in a relationship with.

Yea use your girlfriend, that won't be a painful base mesh to use, after the break up. Why is it everything I make reminds me of her!? Oh wait...

Real world people are always under proportioned to what people want video game characters to be. Start with a base that's off and you're only asking for more pain.

I can see it working if you use it as a pick up line at a bar but chicks are way more into 2D artists so be prepared to whip out the charcoal first.

Protip: Before heading out that night, flip a few blank pages and sketch out a generic female in an easy pose. if all goes well later that night when you've lost all motor control you'll still be drawing like a pro!

Just gotta get her into the same pose. Don't be a douche and ask her to strip down prior. Do it after when she says "thats what you think I look like naked?" "no I think you look more amazing than this could ever be"

lol vig thats hilarious. I do sometimes catch myself in a room full of friends thinking wow the planes of her face are fantastic Id love to sculpt her, what a lovely nose etc etc...hahaa never done it though.

How often has that worked out for you though Vig? Sounds like they will mostly roll their eyes and see it as just another pickup attempt.

2, I'm married, so, it worked pretty well for me.

My face, it was a school assignment, we had to model us without hair and my god it was freaky. I don't have long hair but still! Probably because I had to guess where my skull is underneath my awesome curls.

And alot of friends want their heads modeled and asked me if I could import them in their fav game "Crash Team Racing" on the Playstation. I didn't even bother explaining how stupid their question was
