Good stuff! Have you been looking at that awesome UT3 mod, "The Ball" (or something like that). I don't mean to imply that your doing the same thing, but they also used a Mayan setting so maybe you could take some inspiration from looking at their work?
I think the floating Island is kind of cliche by now - maybe if you gave it a twist? like maybe a platform supported by bridges and hanging over an abyss?
lol I haven't seen "the ball"
I know another team looks like they are doing a cave with the Mayan theme. and honestly that's fine. I assure you I didn't jiggity jack their idea. but I mean this being EndGame. I'm sure people instantly think of; 2012 the end of the Mayan calender.
as for de twist. I mean personally I think this temple is going to be partialy in lava and the glowy roots are what is holding it from sinking in. I was also planning on bridges going to it slash maybe being support. Personally I like rop bridges although thats not really holding it up.
Again if anyone else has any super cool ideas I would love to hear them.
Test wall just to look to see how everything looks put together.
Note the ground will probably be stone as well.
I was just checking colors and scale for the cave interior floor.
right now it seems a bit repetitive.
Trying to think of things that would break up the walls.
I think of more glowing crap running up and down the walls.
although that's probably not the answer.
be great to see some normals poppin' on that stonework. You could place some green omni lights were you have those green glow circle things. It'll help break up that flat grey/ brown too.
The up close shots look great, especially that rock cube with the engravings on it. Make sure you guys find a way to showcase that work in your final composition somehow.
@richardanthony - right now the inside of the mayan temple is devoted to one of our team members who currently is working for a living. It's really hard to get off of a 12 or 13 hour shift only to go back to the grindstone again. I may pick up the slack or maybe he will find time. but right now at this moment. The inside is on the backburner right now we need a good idea of what everything else is going to look like. That being said I'm going to get back to it and hopefully get another post out soon.
I really like the style , architecture and concept art! Is this for hobby or are you working on it dedicated to a project? The reason i ask is because i have a small but talented team working a game project that and we want to do a mayan/aztec mystical inspired enviroment/level for the project. just a thought but if after you finish if you would be interested in contributing to the project you are quite welcome.
I can offer your team full credits, royalty pay for every copy sold and possibly limited up front pay as well.
Looking sweet! Really nice incorporation of the logo
The glowing symbols are cool as well, but shouldn't they all be all oriented in one direction (i.e. it is apparent they have been tuned 90 degrees for the horizontal lines)?
lol I just thought of a better way to make the roots....*head slams into desk. make one unwrap shift clone.....OMG ok I'm going to sleep right now! I am no longer doing things the smart way.
Difference Clouds FTW! I was having issues with it. Actually Unreal flipped me off. It crashed didn't save my package or the level so I had to redo everything inside of unreal twice. The second time I did it it came out better so I guess I can't complain too much.
this is a dark thread thought I would post a screen cap from the entry way.
just an update of stalagmites dropped in....and a floating door in the background.
glowy roots and invisible stairs FTW!
Oh right!!!!
screw light mass for now! I will figure that out when I have more than a week to get this crap done.

a test to see if the decals look like they work...
a small test planning on making more.
feedback anyone? is there too many glowing things?
lol there should be so many glowing things and each one should have lens flare. That's Epic Right.

^^
thanks for the feedback.
