3DS Max point-to-point seam issue

Hey guys,

I'm working with an optimized model imported from Meshlab. I've reduced the face count in Meshlab with no apparent problems, and have imported the mesh as an .obj into 3DS Max 2009.

While the mesh is still in Editable Mesh state, I've applied a Unwrap UVW modifier to the mesh, with the intention of using the point-to-point seam tool to specify edges of particular damage on the mesh (yep, it's the good ol' Eat 3D pillar tute).

However, once I apply the modifier, all the edges of the mesh turn this horrendous bright green, and I can't see the edges I'm selecting in the point-to-point tool.

I'm guessing it's a rogue setting in Meshlab that's giving me this result, or an edge display preference in Max that I need to change - any ideas on how to resolve it so I can see the lines in point-to-point?

Thanks in advance.

Argh, every time I post a question after ages trying to figure it out, I end up figuring out the solution before anyone replies.....

I changed the edge display color in preferences under the UVW Map dropdown to white, thus enabling me to see the light blue point-to-point selection.

    Hello Danshewan,

Green seems usually indicate the boundaries of a particular group of UV's that are stitched together. It is possible that all of the faces have been seperated within Meshlab.

Try selecting all of the vertex within the Unwrap UVW, then doing a weld with a very small tolerance, 0.01 for example. This will weld together all of the vertices, and could possibly solve your problem.

Well the Green comes from when a edge hasn't been welded to the edge that lays next to it, next time take a look at your uvws and see how nothing is welded together on the uvw, it doesn't mean that the mesh isn't welded it means the uvws arnt welded together. Easy solution is to just add a simple box unwrap right off the bat to help the organize it a little better, edges that arnt welded can yield results some times that you really don't want.
