UC'09 "END GAME" | M

Hello PC! Myself and Churro818 are teaming up for unearthly this year. Our basic idea for 'end game' is a deep sea environment, but without any water. Harsh climate, massive earthquakes creating large canyons, water is drying out, sunken ships are now exposed, life is vanishing. We are still working out some loose ends on the story because we have tons of ideas, but we will update that in future posts.

For our look and feel, we have been working on a few ideas.

That looks great - I like the composition of your first color, but the really skeletal remains and looming rock formations in #3 are awesome. Tonnes of atmosphere in that little concept - keep it up!

Hey everyone, I'm Arturo churr0818, been burning the candle light on this one. Anyway I did a higher angle test on our current layout so that it doesn't feel too detached from the environment also played around with more foreground elements like a rare evaporating pond and an anchor wedged into the ground.

Finally got time to work some stuff out. finalizing whats going into our environment and what not. So I wanted to work out what the sky might look like and also how light could be used to create an overall mood. Going to start doing some modeling tests ASAP! this is a color pass on our scene that I liked might add more ambient light to the final 3d scene though to bring out detail in the models and textures. overall i want to be able to get the same feel out of our scene

so I'm thinking our man made structures will be based off of western town type of architecture but made out of wood scrap and old boat parts, rock formations will be sort of the foundation for them and were gonna go for modular stuff like wooden beams corrugated plated and other generic building blocks. also i added some stylizing to the buildings that's inspired by the oddworld universe heres some quick sketches for modeling reference

Awesome, I love the style of architecture you've got going here. I was playing Killzone 2 recently and they do this heavily re-built, re-clad thing with modules very nicely. Lots of character in these.. keep going!

Great job of creating interest in that initial concept, tuna! The composition really draws you in. Churro, great lighting pass, I love those colors. The shanty style structures are very cool, nice variety!

Alright here's my post for the day, decided to break up the environment into three main areas. The half buried oil tanker/cargo ship is the first, then the open river and pond area being the second, and finally the improvised battleship shanty town as the third area. the crane on the battleship has been tricked out to carry heavy cargo and equipment from the scavenging party that goes out to get supplies. if you were a player in this game you would have to activate the crane to get a shipment into the base. but you would be under attack so you have to use the side entrance and activate the battle turrets on the ship for backup. That's kind of what Ive been thinking this late at night ha ha. anyway drew up some stuff to illustrate some main assets for the battleship and refinery areas.

was hoping to get some quality modeling time in this week but I was bombarded with family and had to spend most of my time helping out with entertainment. Anyway I'm currently working on the block out. testing scale, doing geometry stress test, and always on concept duty for future modeling reference. Ive kind of settled on a look for the terrain, more stylized than i was thinking at first but it has a nice cross between pixar and team fortress type rock and land formations. we will probably change a bit of the look as we get more into the modeling so as to not be too animation style.

Huge update! Finally finished our master scene concept. been working on it for small periods of time in between work and home. Its a pretty rough paint and collage to set up assets and composition as well as texture and set focal point. From this image we will pull individual elements and refine them in engine. The process is pretty sick and I'm gonna get everything together this week so that modeling phase can go into full bore. As you can see the initial concept has been morphed to be more unearthly and more epic. The structures are a bit more alien. the main focus is now a large structure to the right that plays into the whole ocean draining idea. more specifics coming soon.

By the way thanks to all of you who have stuck by and watched this thing grow, I appreciate all the positive feedback. 3d models coming up ASAP
