Hey guys! Team "Eight Plague" here, consisting of three members (G3L, josh_navarro, Nightwing). This is our first time doing Unearthly and I am hyped about it. Saw a lot of friend's stuff last year and how big this competition got so I just had to enter this year now.
We're going for a dark, moody witch castle in which a summoning/ritual has opened up a portal to another dimension/world. This came from an epic battle inside the area as someone enchanted the words to call forth a beast from somewhere.
We've got some concepts here we want to get inspired from which are great because it has some of the ideas we were throwing around. We're thinking of destroying the castle up along the walls or maybe the floor from the aftershock of the ritual plus adding some gothic/demonic relics and deco around the area. Also we might wanna add some weird stuff like hanging broken birdcages to indicate some withcraft or any other thing that might give the idea of this being a witch's ritual area.

As far as destruction goes, we'll see if we can add some destroyed parts to the ceiling and definitely the floor. I'm liking the floor being broken up, plus added some stairs to the back part of the room to add something there besides a flat wall O_o.
Hoping to do a blockout later on tonight in 3D with my team so we'll know how our layout will be, paint over that to finalize our concept as far as details go and be ready to start modelling some stuff out by Friday/Saturday!
Props Idea (cause i got bored at one point of just doing those thumbnails) nothing final here obviously...
since our concept look medieval, I thought our logo should complement that. Let me know what you guys think of this for a log
Here's a concept I was working on today, wanted to start fleshing out the idea a little more. As far as the details go, we'll go on that once we start building the assets, but this is pretty much what we're going for.
The gateway has risen thanks to a ritual that took place where the wall begins to crack. There are coffins (which you can't see from that angle) that were used as well as an enchantment, thus the glowing pentagram-like symbols and what not on the broken rocks where the gateway has surfaced and the spirits are beginning to surface. Oh and those clouds will be spinning into a vortex up in the sky.
We want to destroy parts of this castle (pillars, walls, etc) and add some objects that have fallen (torches, chandeliers, etc) break up that ground some and get some nice gothic detail going! We're going to do our final blockout and start our assets now tonight/tomorrow.
I might play with the concept a bit more to flesh out the details missing and the outlines that haven't been filled in, but we've pretty much got our idea going ^_^
oh and im still working on the crappy ornate designs above the wings. ugly.. i know.
Any feedback about the design lemme know!! or extra ideas much appreciated!

i believe that gothic ornaments would look better. they always had those crocket thingies which might fit better with your column than the vines you currently have on there.
assets should be coming in soon, so next update should be a WIP asset or something of the sort.
It might be the perspective playing tricks on me, but I'm not quite getting the scale/proportions seen in your first reference concepts. Are the pillars a little short, or very far apart maybe? Once the arches are in there there won't be much of a vertical left. The space in between looks almost square whereas the really dramatic ones in the concepts are about 2:1. Sorry if this seems nit-picky, I think the undersides of the upper level got me thinking about that. Might be something to help it feel "grander" at this early stage.
