hey,
are there any good tutorials out there for quad modelling tips.
for example, how to get a strip of 2 quads into 1 strip of quads (if thats even possible)
and just general strategies for tackling models.
anythgin at all would probably be useful

Aye, quad-only modeling can be more trouble than it's worth. Triangles and n-gons can be extremely handy if you're not getting the effect you need just with quads. Yeah, quad subdivision is the prettiest and smoothest, but that's not always exactly what you need.
