Question on out-of-country hiring

I was wondering if anyone had any insight on how often someone is actually hired from another country. Is it rare, and what kind of loop holes does an employer and employee have to jump through?

Or even a matter of moving across country?

Basically I'm just asking is it worth it to apply to studios/cities you want to work/move to. What are the odds and what problems will I most likely run into?

Thanks :)

If you are born in a commonwealth country and have at least one grandparent born in the UK then you can get a 5 year ancestral visa which allows you to live and work unrestricted for 5 years at which time it can be renewed. I would imagine that if you applied to a company already in possession of a working Visa then that certainly would sweeten the deal vs someone else who they may need to spend time/money filling out papaerwork to bring them over.

If this is true, then that's pretty cool for me! :). I'm going to really look into this. Thanks for the heads up.
