Loved this movie. Incredible gore. I keep hearing people compare this to one of my favorites, Shaun of the Dead...and also a movie called "Dance of the Dead" which I've never heard of.
One of the best flicks I've seen in awhile.
They don't bother with any drawn out 'set up' and instead just assume it's not unlike 'all those other zombie films out there' in how it happens...then they focus on an actual story. About time zombie films moved away from 'origin' stories. It was refreshing, and the whole movie continued on being refreshing through and through.
Saw it Friday night, loved it! Surprise cameo was awesome, didn't expect that at all. Carnival got me pumped up for L4D2 Carnival campaign as well. Gave me a few ideas for the L4D campaign I've been wanting to start for a while too.
I wouldn't compare it to Shaun of the Dead though, two completely different and great movies. Also for anyone who hasn't seen it, Planet Terror is another great zombie movie (It's a B Movie made for the double feature Grindhouse where the second movie was Quentin Tarontino's Death Race)
man....i just can't believe it. ALL of the trailers make me think "woody H is one of the most annoying characters in films ever". and i am a HARDcore horror fan. so....peeps that have seen it: is he as annoying as i'm thinking? please let me know!
fritz - I guess it depends on what you consider annoying, but I can see no reason why his character should annoy you. I thought he and his character were fantastic. Though I can't even understand why you'd think that from the previews. Unless you just don't like Woody H? :P

Far from it. His character made the movie. As did the other 3.
Woody was fantastic. I can't imagine anybody giving a better performance as that character. The characters are what made this movie. It was basically a road trip movie...only there was a zombie apocalypse going on at the same time. I haven't laughed that much in a theater in a long time, incredibly entertaining film.
Some of zombieland was filmed where I live so I thought that was pretty damn awesome considering the only thing remotely interesting that happens here is....nothing. Looking forward to seeing this though...
saw it with the office here on Friday, thoroughly enjoyed it for what it was a stupid funny zombie movie. I think I'll go see it again with the wife this weekend.
the intro sequence was magnificently fucking awesome.
.
I agree swizzle, the intro was fucking amazing.
The rest of the movie blew chunks... oh-em-gee no pun intended. I didn't hate all of it, BM was A+... and.... uh... woody was pretty good throughout. Everything else though was annoying and lame - the Michael Cerra clone needed to get eaten.
The movie did not live up to the first 5 minutes of credits.
I liked it a lot!
I also liked how the focus wasn't on finding a 'cure' or solving the problem, but it was just about some people dealing with the situation.
and damn that girl looks good
Saw it yesterday and loved it. Not sure what I was expecting, but it exceeded my expectations anyway. Everything I've been looking for in a film lately. Comedy, action, decent plot (which was mostly just a simple road trip and didn't need to be more), a relatable romance and zombies!
One of my favorite Zombie films for sure. One of my favorite films of ALL TIME, of ALL TIME, maybe. I have sort of given up on movies lately because I don't like that they are so self contained and only 2-3 hours long. Movies that I pop in and watch and they end, don't really do it for me anymore. I much prefer serialized long running series like TV shows, novels and comics.
That said, it was a great movie and anyone who hasn't seen it yet, should.
Sorry, its wasn't that great guys, the intro was awesome but it aint no shaun of the dead. I hated the romance stuff, there was hardly any zombie killing for at least 45 minutes with them driving to CA.
Yeah, I just saw it today, was alot better and alot more gory than expected, but was fucking awesome. Definitely going to have to buy that one I think. The intro sequence like others said was brilliant.
I wonder if that was his actual mansion or if it was just a thing built for the movie. They made alot of messes though for that film, all those cars and garbage and shit.

Also, Emma Stone could shoot a shotgun forever and I'd watch it.
I loved the intro sequence as well. Totally worth seeing.
Man the ghost busters scene had me dying! :poly142:
There's just so many awesome parts... I also loved how all he characters were cool, different, and well developed.

Remember to stretch.
One of the funniest movies I've ever seen, too. Definately going to get it when it comes out
Did you guys notice the father & son in the potato sack race running from father/son pairs of zombies... also in potato sacks?? AWESOME.
Oh, and I heard that there's an Easter egg after the credits, so I guess I have to see it again. How horrible.
Spoiler obviously

Definately in my top 5 Zombie Flicks.

Not that it wasn't amusing at times, but was just more expecting a bit well ... more on the zombie side I suppose.
Bill Murray!
That was just AWESOME!

Loved the sets. Loved the rules. Loved the script. Loved Wichita.
"Omg, look at this clown."
Oh, and Bill Murray was awesome. I had recently watched Caddyshack. Perfect.
