Well hello all i'm new.
Anyway this competition looks like it would be great practice for me. I have some ideas as to what I want to do. Namely a vast entrance and gateway to a hidden valley. This has become the last bastion of hope to an almost extinct human race, their End Game so to speak. If they can't make it here then humanity is lost forever. Just got to get all my inspiration together and put some sort of rough mood board or something together.

My advice to you is just start posting doodles, mockups and any random piece of art you produce for the comp. So if you feel stuck progressing or coming up with ideas, there are tonnes of people here that will bounce around a few ideas/paintovers and really push you further.
After a couple of days researching and rough sketches. I have a roughish concept to work from, which is about as far as my concepting skills go. At least so far as colouring it in.
I am having a little rethink as to the purpose of this valley carved out of the mountains. I am thinking it is perhaps a futuristic final step towards a, Shangri-la esque, mythical place. Hopefully I can convey a clear contrast between the ancient stone surroundings and the sci-fi walkway leading to the door that leads who knows where.

and here they are arranged out as a floor. I don't think it's too noticeable that it's only two pieces.
Next up is probably all the plants that I need, aswell as drawing up a more refined concept.

Anyway here is the column I knocked out today. I think I could get into this Zbrush lark, it all seems to be coming out rather well.
Enough waffle time to show a quick mock up of the pieces put together so far, so I can get a feel for where i'm at.
