Behemoth animation scene

Hello all!

I'm pretty new here and this will be my first post displaying something that I've done. This is a big creature concept that has been through both maya and zbrush.

Before you go on and watch the video I have to apologize about the videoquality. Also the whole beast is only roughly automapped so you might notice that the normal maps are not working pretty well hehe:)

I'm looking for any kind of comments.

Thank you for watching

its not bad if your not an animator, does seem very pose to pose and linear, try to break that up and itl come on leaps and bounds.

i agree not bad, im not the greatest animator in the world but you do have a bit of the slippery feet here if im not mistaken, also, this creature only has the two legs? if so the weighting seems a little off in a few places the step at 1:02 is one of them. its not bad, just need to tweak a few things to realy make it live.

Painfully slow movements was really hard to watch.
I guess its not the best subject to animate.

Great with such fast respone, thanks all.

I'm not aiming to become an animator though I had a lot of fun making this guy move and feel heavy.

d00kie: Haha I guess he looks a little like that!

Disco Stu: Too bad you think that way, I have actually been afraid for just this. Well well!

woogity: Now when you mention it I realise that it doesn't come through in the video what it looks like from behind. It actually has two legs, even though they arn't much :poly121: But thats part of the design:

The animations were a bit jerky at times, and camer movement was too sharp at places, but I will let the animators comment about that.

As for me, the thing that I noticed was strange is that when the camera is targeted at the house and you can see the B'moth crawling, the house shakes. In fact, every single bit of it shakes separately. You get a feeling it's very wobbly and fragile.

When the B'moth acually tips it over, though, it falls like a brick. I can't see the wobblyness, and to be honest I'd expect it to fall apart and not maintain its shape.

The other thing is once again connected to that feeling of fragility you are first trying to convey. The house shakes when the B'moth is far away, but when it comes really close and roars at it, the house doesn't move an inch.

tl;dr the house looks fragile when you first show it, but magically loses it's fragility when attacked by the Beast.

I liked the fragile shaking in the beginning a lot, and I'd love to see it remain as fragile.

I agree with everyone here, I myself think that the animation as a whole is slow. What I did like is the last part where he slings his tonque out at the house, I feel like that could come from a better angle though. I understand this is from the animation project, and creating a character draws away time from animation part, but good job Björn nevertheless!

Some good feedback pointed out here, thanks. I dont think I'll go back and redo all of the scenes but at least I know what to focus on if I do tweak the scenes later. Good point there about the fragility of the house. I didn't spend much effort on that part in general so I don't find it strange that you find it disturbing in some ways. I'll definitely put some more effort to the cameras before next render.

Also, I did not rig this one. It was my friend Erik Larsson who did, so all creds to him regarding that.

    Thanks all,
    Björn
