Okay, so heres where i'm stuck,
My pros and cons for both painter (IX or X) and photoshop (cs4)
Photoshop
+sketching brushes
+custom brushes
+filters
+works with zapplink
-massive slowdown with smudge brush
-color picker
Painter
+blending brushes (wide array, little slowdown)
+good color picker, and pallet system
+extra window for commonly used brushes
-Sketching brushes not as cool
-No custom shape brushes that i know of
-Not nearly as many filters
-not able to start with transparent background
-wont work with zapplink
Gimp is somewhere inbetween the 2, but i dont like it that much
Any reccomendations on 1 program that i will like 100% so i wont have to fucking switch back and forth?

untick 'spacing' in brush options for smudge, set opacity to 20% or so, then go try it. Much nicer eh? And you can add non-hard round brush dab or scattering for more juicy delicious smudging.
hope it is helpful!
edit: and in PS (cs3 or later i guess) you can float the tool preset palette and store commonly used brushes in there similar to painter.
Incidentally, I love Sai.
