hey guys, figured I'd start a thread showcasing my W.I.P on current and future personal projects. however, seeing that I'm pretty lousy with updates ill do my best to update regularly
To kick it off here my take on beast from the X-MEN. Ill post some more of the full body later today as its Pretty damn late.
wow- that was a moment whee I read the thread, but the images hadn't loaded, and my expectations were totally subverted- I love this design! You've got a "bat" vibe going on- dunno if that'll keep going once the fur goes on ...
edit:
so i did a quick foot note pic for ya bud try 'em out, see what you think... just initial gut reactions of things to experiment with. two things though that i would say need to be changed are how the legs are turning inward at the bottom part. i would either bring this to be straight, or turned outward. turning them inward gives him a cowardly appearance, like he's shaking at the knees like he's ichabod crane :P
and i will fight with you on this until the death man... i swear... if i have to fly out to cali and punch you in the junk.... the whole bicep, pec, deltoid intersection... it feels like a noodle :P i'm just sayin'. looks like the forms are just under developed atm. i love what you did with the sternum... totally sick.
i like the calves the way they are for their girth, but if you move the knees down and lengthen the thighs, you may need to add some girth to the calves for a little more weight.
also, if you haven't done this yet, it may be a good idea to go to a lower level and rig it up. play with some poses so you can get a feel for how he would move, how you would want his legs to bend, etc, which will ultimately help you with managing your proportions as you visually make those decisions. it would be better to do this now than get to the end of a low res, posed out, and it starts to fall apart because weight distribution feels unrealistic (even from a stylized standpoint). don't know if that makes sense or not.
thirded!
And a nice cane to twirl about as he works the room at fancy dancy parties.
I must say, i love his teeth the mostest. I got a feeling he tries to have intellectual conversations, but nothing comes out. So he makes up for his lack of verbal distinction with the style and class of 1 million gentlemen.
Update on my beast character, i made a lot of adjustments and changed a few things with his overall size(beefed him up a tad) and such also scaled his ears down, although i wanted them to be a little dog-like.
I have all the hi res details finished aswell, but since these were test renders to get the skin shader settings i didn't need them. I'll be doing some more tests and start texturing also.
@neox- i think your probably the only person to have thought that, thanks man:)
thanks everyone, i went ahead and started texturing this guy, here is a pretty low res render of where i'm at so far, i still have the veins and such to add in the color map, since this is the level 4 mesh its quite dense but still isn't showing the final high res details like veins and such,I will be using displacement later on for that.
colors are looking nice! i think the pink in the ears is coming out really nicely, i defiantly prefer him with the glasses on tho, adds a bit of humor for me. Now hurry up and finish him so you can finish your gladiator from last year!......don't think we forgot....:poly117:
@Ged- thanks man i remember seeing that i think it was in the what are you working on thread, i think...
@woogity- thanks woogity, hahaha that old thing...lol i did finish it just didnt post it fail...:poly127:
@Firebert- daamn you!!! lol its coming(thats what i said) i wanted to focus on the upperbody first however, i have the entire textures i will post later.
