In my career so far I have mainly been creating 2D art and/or low poly props and environments. I am trying to expand my skills and get solid at doing character work with my goal to be eventually creating the kind of highpoly next gen awesomeness that alot of you guys are showing on a daily basis here. I am kinda stuck on on the work flow with creating the high and the low poly model, like which comes first?...when do I texture it and when do i generate the normal map?....I think I generally don't get how you get from point a to b. This might be a noobish question but and links or words of wisdom would be appreciated....cheers!

I'm not a character artist, but I'm guessing its building a basemesh in max or maya, then into zbrush for sculpting. Then build the low poly, possibly from a low division of the Zbrush sculpt, or retopo. Then baking the normals, and then texture it.
