Doesnt get any better than this
Whats the camera perspective going to be though?a birds-eye view or a player on the ground?
Man you could have so much fun with the textures, im green with envy
cool.. how high is it suposed to be? looks like you would need to klimb like 8 meters without that saftey cage around the ladder? i think i would make it go a bit lower, if you see this kind of saftey things in real world i think they always start after like 2 or maybe 3 meters.. looks neat otherwise, looking forward to the textured version...
I live in a large grain farming area. I see lots made of concrete, and lots made of horizontally ribbed metal rings. Very nice work on all of the details.
The material is confused because the of the tiled lines you put in, that make it seem like planks. Lose those lines if you want it to be concrete. I don't see them in the reference either. Everything else looks really nice, though.
since i live in Iowa - the land of "Silos and Smokestacks" according to one state boarder sign, I would say I've seen a few silos, while they can be made from a variety of materials, the majority of silos in Iowa seem to be made in the same way from concrete blocks(it's likely from the same company - http://www.hansonsilo.com), newer larger ones are generally made from corrugated sheet metal, really old one are sometime made from wood or stone, I've also seen some odd ones here made only with reinforced wire mesh - if you were to ask a farmer "why" I'm sure it has to do with what the silo is meant to hold.
as I mentions though my concrete block texture needs work:)
concur. much less like wood now. In the reference, the large tonal variances tend to run horizontally, as opposed to vertically, like you've made them.

Looks great!
the view would be from the ground, so i should be focusing more effort there
