Loved the guy with the "Heyyy-oooo!", l loled when he kept firing his gun at the sound technician until the gun clicked several times......"Heeey-oooo!"
great video! I was wondering who did the voice until I saw Dave's name at the end. Borderlands definitely has a ton of marketing behind it should sell really well for you guys.
Hmm. I thought it dragged one small joke out way too long. I actually found it kind of boring.
I mean some of the stuff looked nice (although the robot design is one of the least interesting I've seen in a while), and the voice acting was decent, but as a "funny short" I think it was not very funny and not short enough.
Especially considering I opened the link originally hoping to find out some cool stuff about the making of Borderlands (which I would love to see!) so my hopes were set pretty high. I'm disappointed
James is an awesome animator! I bet he had fun doing this Dave is the perfect claptrap. Definitely the best marketing tool for the game is these shorts.
Do I just not have the right sense of humour or something?
I mean, everyone else seems to think these are really funny, but I barely managed to crack a smile there. This one had the same problem for me as the first one - it goes on far too long dragging a single joke. Dropping a couple of internet video/film references in there doesn't add all that much.
I mean I'm sure they're fun to work on, and they certainly look nice, but when it comes to laughs and pacing, they're nowhere near in the league of Valve's "Meet The..." TF2 series, IMO.

imo there´s a cultural difference regarding humor, to me it feels a bit forced. There is a guge difference between lets say usa and europe what people think what is funny

Well yeah, I got that. I also got the "we'll do it live!" reference. Were there any other movie/tv/internet meme or in-joke references that I don't know about? Is it a lot funnier if you know specific American TV series or news shows? There may be more in-jokes that I'm missing since I don't live in the US.
So far the majority of it seems to riffing on Christian Bale, which was already an old joke before the first "Making of Borderlands" video was even announced...
i didn't think it was very funny either MoP, really not much above the scary/epic movie type of humour. they may as well have Carmen Electra impersonating Amy Winehouse. what was it Stewie said..?
Ha ha ha! Oh gosh that's funny! That's really funny! Do you write your own material? Do you? Because that is so fresh. You are the weakest link goodbye. You know, I've, I've never heard anyone make that joke before. Hmm. You're the first. I've never heard anyone reference, reference that outside the program before. Because that's what she says on the show right? Isn't it? You are the weakest link goodbye. And, and yet you've taken that and used it out of context to insult me in this everyday situation. God what a clever, smart girl you must be, to come up with a joke like that all by yourself. That's so fresh too. Any, any Titanic jokes you want to throw at me too as long as we're hitting these phenomena at the height of their popularity. God you're so funny! Ha ha ha!
I thought it was good, wasnt hilarious laugh out loud funny but still, its nice to see someone other than valve that has a sense of humour.
It bodes well for the rest of the game, if it contains more of this sort of freeform, imaginitive, thinking(although the idea is somewhat generic and pop cultary). As opposed to the usual games where any content which is too creative, doesnt market to a demographic, is removed, so that you end up with generic, homogenised tripe(mmm delicious!).
I thought the two shorts were funny, but maybe the profanity was a little overdone. I thought episode two was better, if only because it had a little more variation. Still, comedy's a bastard to get right for everybody. Good effort, and a great way to promote what's shaping up to be a really promising title. Can't wait for October!
It's a good way to introduce the little robot character, if he's going to be in the game. He's got a pretty clear personality... to have it established in these shorts will be sort of nice when and if the players run into him in the game.
Sort of like an in-character tour, while at the same time crossing the 4th wall, so it's like a mix between a Meet The * and video preview narrated by a dev. I like that idea. Like a teacher using puppets to get kids interested.
